The city has been included in an expansion for the app-based travel service, in which it has moved into markets at Ballarat, Bendigo, the Central Coast and Toowoomba.
Ola Australia and New Zealand managing director Simon Smith said last month it would bring more competition into the Newcastle market through an extra choice for ride-share users and drivers.
"Since launching in this country almost two years ago, hundreds of thousands of Australians have benefitted from riding with Ola and it's time we gave the same choice to people in Newy," Mr Smith said.
"We also want to offer drivers in Newcastle the opportunity to make more money on their own schedule - whether it's driving on the weekend, during morning and evening commutes, or just in their spare time."
