GIVING BLOOD Newcastle vintage-rocker Lachlan X. Morris has promised to make his fans sweat on his latest single Blood, Rhythm 'n' Blues. The song, released on Friday, is the second from Morris' upcoming fourth album, due later this year. It follows the AM radio pop mastery of Shadow Lover, which was one of the best local singles released last year.

"It's an unrelenting dose of vintage radio rock, delving into corporate black magic and getting chased by religious door-knockers. A song to make you sweat," Morris said. You can catch Morris when he plays the Stag and Hunter Hotel next Friday and the Grand Junction Hotel on February 21.
OUTBACK CLUB Fresh from winning a Golden Guitar in Tamworth last week for top-selling Australian album, country star Lee Kernaghan is bringing his Backroad Nation Tour to Wests NEX on May 1. The Wolfe Brothers and Christie Lamb will open for Kernaghan.
EMOTION Newcastle will be among the first audiences to hear Didirri's haunting new piano ballad Raw Stuff. The Melbourne singer-songwriter released the single on Thursday and it was written after he realised his creative drive had prevented him from being home for Christmas. Didirri will perform Raw Stuff at Eurovision: Australia Decides on February 8. Following that he'll launch his single tour, which stops at 48 Watt Street's Small Ballroom on April 17.
SWEET RETURN If you missed Seeker Lover Keeper's 48 Watt Street show last September, fear not. The supergroup of Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby are returning to Newcastle to play Lizotte's on March 7.
