Local fire crews have been called to extinguish several vehicle fires over in the past week. On Tuesday, firefighters from East Maitland were responded to a car fire in Chisholm where they found the vehicle well alight. Crews worked to extinguish the vehicle before handing the site over to police.

Firefighters from Mayfield West were also called to a vehicle fire in Warabrook on Sunday morning. On arrival crews also found a vehicle well alight and quickly subdued the blaze before rendering the area safe.
On Saturday fire crews from Tingara Heights and Charlestown were called to a house fire in Windale. First arriving crews located a fire in the garage area of the property. Firefighters were able to attack and rapidly extinguish the fire preventing it from spreading to any other structures.
After returning home from work on Saturday, a Lambton man noticed a strong smell of gas inside the house. He promptly called 000 and firefighters from Lambton responded. On arrival crews isolated the gas at the meter and conducted atmospheric monitoring within the building. Crews then using a positive pressure fan, ventilated the house. A gas detector was then used to take samples throughout the house and declare the building safe, before allowing the man to re enter his home.
Wednesday had fire crews from East Maitland and Maitland called to a house fire in East Maitland. On investigation firefighters found an air-conditioning unit at the rear of the house alight. Fast action contained the blaze to the area of origin.
