Hart made it two from two with Chevrons Reward at Menangle with another fast-finishing effort down the outside.

Nulkaba trainer Harmey will now take Chevrons Reward to the Sibelia Stakes at the track next week in the hope of qualifying her for the group 1 Ladyship Mile.

Chevrons Reward had fired up and tailed off last in her first two Menangle starts for Harmey, who turned to Hart and a new strategy of settling the five-year-old back in the field.

"Since we've been doing this, she is racing a lot better," Harmey said.

"She gets upset, so whether the other drivers get her too worked up or not, I don't know, but Ash is chilled out and just sits there.

"And she is getting more confidence in her, too. She's driven her four times now and hasn't been out of the placings."

Harmey said Chevrons Reward would have to step up again next week.

"Obviously if she draws bad against those better mares, she's going to be in trouble, but I'd love to see her three back the fence, or just closer, and see her run home against them," he said.

At Newcastle on Friday night, five of 10 races were run before the meeting was abandoned because of poor visibility in the wet weather.

Newcastle Mile hopeful Don Boston was an impressive winner in race four, making it four victories on the trot.

The Brad Abbott-trained 11-year-old led early and was never threatened to win by 8.8 metres in 1:55.
