It's called The Drop Festival and it's jumping from beach to beach as part of the World Surf League Australian tour. Headliners The Presets will share the bill with Boy & Bear, Ball Park Music, Allday, DZ Deathrays, Kita Alexander and GRAACE.
If anyone knows how to work a crowd into a frenzy it's electronic duo The Presets. Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes have pushed the boundaries with each of their studio albums. We're talking songs the calibre of Are You The One?, This Boy's In Love, My People, I Go Hard, I Go Home, Ghosts, Promises and Fall. The chart-topping Apocalypso won five ARIA awards as well as the coveted J Award for Album of The Year. Hi Viz debuted at No.1 on the iTunes chart.
The Drop 2020 all-star lineup
Boy & Bear's hit singles include Southern Sun, Walk the Wire and Feeding Line. The band has been in Europe touring new album Suck On Light. Four J-Award album nominations, sold-out headline tours and nine Hottest 100 appearances have made Brisbane's Ball Park Music one of the most respected acts in the country. The Drop crowd will no doubt sing every word to She Only Loves Me When I'm There, It's Nice To Be Alive and Exactly How You Are.
Rap singer Allday's debut album Startup Cult peaked at No.3 spot on the ARIA Charts and spawned hit singles Right Now and You Always Know The DJ while his second full-length project, Speeding, scored another top 10 chart debut with hit singles Sides, Raceway and In Motion. His third album, Starry Night Over the Phone, was released to critical acclaim.
DZ Deathrays have come a long way since they played gigs at house parties. They've released four records, won multiple ARIA awards, toured the world and supported The Foo Fighters. When she's not surfing, Kita Alexander is busy making a name for herself by writing wistful, sophisticated pop songs. GRAACE's break came from collaborating with the likes of Hayden James and Flight Facilities but she's since won fans with tracks like Last Night, Have Fun At Your Party and Numb racking up millions of streams.
