The 21-year-old Upper Hunter product was a major part of the Lions' premiership in 2018, scoring 21 tries across the season before heading down to the state capital.
Walmsley was on Friday announced in the Newcastle RL All Stars squad to meet the Newcastle RL Indigenous All Stars at St John Oval on March 21.
The annual pre-season event will see the fleet-footed fullback reunite with Souths teammates Harry van Dartel, Luke Higgins and Ryan Glanville.
Walsmley also links back up with former Souths centre Henry Penn, who has signed for Kurri Kurri this year after spending 2019 in the Queensland Cup.
Half a dozen past NRL players are set to feature in the upcoming clash.
Mickey Paea (Wests), Brock Lamb, Pat Mata'utia (Maitland) and Tyrone Amey (Cessnock) were named in the Newcastle RL All Stars squad.
Reigning Newcastle RL player of the year Luke Walsh and 2017 best and fairest Ryan Walker (Wests) are part of the Indigenous team.
The match also serves as a representative trial of sorts for the Rebels, who are again scheduled to play a Ron Massey Cup side midway through 2020.
