At his 71st start, the white and bridle dog, trained at Cranebrook by Patricia Chaker, burst to the lead from box four and was never headed to take out the $40,000-to-the-winner race.
A $34 chance with the TAB, Mottza finished in front of Ebby Infrared and second favourite Turbo Thomas for his 30th race victory.
Odds-on favourite and track record-holder La Grand Quality, trained at Sawyers Gully by Darryl Thomas, was slow away from box one and never recovered after an early check from Turbo Thomas, which crossed from box six.
The Jason Mackay-trained Turbo Thomas was 12 wins from 12 starts at Maitland before going down to La Grand Quality in the heats last week.
Earlier, the Thomas-trained Whitfield made a blistering debut in taking out the opening race, clocking 22.04 seconds for the 400m.
The Mackay-tained Aston Sapporo won the Maitland Gold Cup consolation race and kennelmate Pete Tanga was another winner on the night.
Other victors were Not Much (Tony Mason), Good Juan (Harry Sarkis) and Flyin' Crazy (Kevin Smith).
