The St George Illawarra back-rower is off contract at the end of this year and the Knights have been negotiating with him for months.
There has been speculation he has agreed to a three-year deal worth $2.1 million, even though it is almost certain the NRL salary cap will be reduced next year because of the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus.
Frizell, 28, has played in 14 Tests for Australia and 11 Origins for NSW, most of them alongside Knights prop David Klemmer.
There are suggestions both the Dragons and Knights will confirm the deal on Friday.
