Zipping Russell was first reserve for the 515-metre opening race maiden on the program but he will come into the one for Wrighty's Boy, which won at the track on Friday to leave maiden grade.
On debut, Zipping Russell, a son of Mister Twister and Zipping Maggie, was seventh in that race from box six.
Mackay was targeting the Magic Maiden series at Wentworth Park with Zipping Russell before the features were postponed and racing at the track suspended because of the coronavirus restrictions.
He clocked impressive trial times before his debut and the Mackays expected a better showing second-up from the inside draw.
"Zipping Garth was a freak and he went 24.16 post to post at The Gardens, and Punch One Out was 24.20. Zipping Russell came out and ran 24.09, running home in 11.70, so that was scary when we saw that," Mackay's daughter, April, said.
"Then he went 24.11 and 24.13 at Wenty post to post, that's serious. He's got a big motor but that first start, he just didn't know what he was doing with seven other dogs around him. He's got the red tomorrow, so he should be able to rail hard."
The team also have star Turbo Thomas from box one and Aston Sapporo from four in race five (515m).
Turbo Thomas won their clash last Friday after starting from box six and he looms as tougher to beat from one.
"He looks a big chance off the red. He went super last Friday," April said.
"Aston Sapporo looks a chance as well. That was his first 500 the other day that he's had in a while, so in his second, he should come out of the ground for sure."
Aston Tatum, a daughter of Brett Lee, has won five of six career starts, all over 400m, but she drops back to 272m in race two. She is another with the red rug for Mackay at the meeting.
"She looks a huge hope, even though she's in with the track record-holder [Lil Doo]," April said. "She's got lots of speed so if she burns up on the inside, she'll be a hope."
