WHEN The Chaser's War On Everything was inciting conservative media outrage for their infamous The Eulogy Song or "Make A Realistic Wish Foundation" skit, Andrew Hansen wasn't exactly laughing.

While some of his comedic colleagues in The Chaser loved whipping up hysteria, and thrived off it, Hansen - the musical one with wacky hair - found it stressful.
"Personally I never enjoyed being the target of an outrage at all," Hansen says. "A couple of the guys, it didn't phase them, but I never had much fun being in the middle of those outrages The Chaser had years ago.
"I was quite glad when they blew over, as they always did, because everyone remembers after a few days you were just kidding, or it doesn't matter, or they move on to the next thing they want to be furious about."
The Chaser's War On Everything ran for three seasons on the ABC between 2006 and 2009, but the group of Hansen, Julian Morrow, Chris Taylor, Craig Reucassel, Chas Licciardello, Craig Firth and Dominic Knight have also produced various other shows like Hamster Wheel and The Check Out plus newspaper, radio and theatre.
Yet the War On Everything was their most popular and edgiest show, constantly courting controversy.
In the decade since the show ended the world and social media has become more politically-divisive, so could you get away with a show like The Chaser's War On Everything in 2020?
"You can't get away with any type of show these days," Hansen says. "You've got to be extremely careful. I don't mind being careful, because I don't really want to be in the eye of an outrage storm.
"The good thing about a live show, it's bit like a little secret that I'm sharing with the people who chose to turn up that night. I'm less likely to be the victim of an angry tweet."
Hansen has branched out on his own with his musical comedy, Solo Show. It received rave reviews before the tour was cut short due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The show involves many of Hansen's old Chaser favourites like The Eulogy Song, and new sketches lampooning politics and pop culture.
Before The Chaser Hansen played in the band, The Fantastic Leslie, with fellow comedian Tom Gleeson and he's enjoyed the return to music.
"I love not having the dead weight of those other guys from the Chaser constantly dragging me down," he says dripping with sarcasm. "I can do whatever I like.
"That's what the show is about. It's about people who strike out on their own and do things their own way. The world's changed. You can't just get a normal job anymore. You've got to go out and hustle."
Will we ever see a full Chaser reunion?
"I'm constantly badgering the other guys," he says. "They're sick of me pestering them to get together and do another show. We haven't done a full team show in four years now. You may have to wait until the wrinkly old Chasers with oxygen tanks are wheeled out. But I'm hopeful it'll happen."
