Herald photographer Max Mason-Hubers spotted this one on Griffiths Road in Broadmeadow on Wednesday evening.
The first thing Topics has to say about this is: Don't use your mobile phone while driving. It's really really really stupid.
Another thing is that when these cameras operated in warning mode from December to March, more than 30,000 people were sent warning letters after being caught using their phone while driving.
Which goes to show there are a lot of really really really ... well ... you know what we're thinking.
The warning period is over. If you're caught, you'll cop a $344 fine and the loss of five demerit points. In a school zone, the fine is $457.
Plus, you'll feel really stupid.
Calling Elvis
Loads of ships with the word Corona in their name have been sailing into Newcastle Port.
Corona, which means crown, is a popular name for ships for some reason.
Ever since the dreaded virus emerged, we've had loads of messages about the ships.
Newcastle musician Mitch Capone told us about the latest one, which is named the Corona Ace. It sailed into Newcastle on Wednesday to pick up a load of coal.
Mitch, as it happens, was due to perform his brand new show, The Wonder of Elvis, complete with a seven-piece band, at Lizotte's in Lambton last month. Due to the new restrictions, the show has been pushed back to August 21.
This reminds us of actor Tom Hanks, who was in Australia filming an Elvis Presley biopic - directed by Baz Luhrmann - when he and his wife Rita Wilson contracted the coronavirus.
As for Mitch Capone, given his Elvis connections, we wonder whether he's anything like his late and distant cousin Al, of Chicago [Al and Elvis used to hang out, we're told].
We didn't ask Mitch why he was out filming ships. We hope for his sake he was exercising.
Home Alone
New Lambton's Ross Greig has been getting stuck into TV shows and movies in the lockdown.
"There was a recurring theme to everything. I don't know how it happened," he said.
Ross decided to create his own awards.
Instead of the Logies, he calls them the Loggies - a reference to log cabins and cabin fever.
"The best movie was Home Alone. The best TV series was Home and Away. The best cartoon was The Simpsons, starring of course Homer. The best comedy was Housos on SBS. The best female actress was Katie Holmes. The best western series was Little House on the Prairie.
"I was also watching a documentary about early man, Homo erectus."
