About 2.30am on Saturday, Newcastle Police District officers saw a vehicle swerving in and out of a lane on Maitland Road, Mayfield.

They stopped the vehicle, and gave the 25-year-old male driver a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.
He was submitted to a breath analysis at Waratah Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.157.
His licence was suspended immediately, and he was charged with high-range drink-driving.
He is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court in July.
