ONLINE boat and yacht rental startup Flotespace has witnessed a rise in patronage as Australians seek out new activities on water during the coronavirus. Flotespace - which bought Newcastle-founded, Sydney charter boat booking company Boata in 2019 - has had more than 40 new listings in recent weeks. "I can't honestly state how the Hunter is faring however ... we are seeing localised operators reach out to list their boats to service the local communities who are not able to travel further afield," its founder, Hugh Treseder, said. Mr Treseder said booking a private boat was a great way to restore and reconnect in times of uncertainty. "Australia is a boating nation. Just like beaches, beers and barbecues, boats are a part of our culture," he said.
