St Columban's Catholic Primary School and San Clemente High School share a campus at Mayfield that provides students with a consistent educational link from primary through to secondary school.

Both are founded by the Dominican Order and focus on a Positive Education approach to learning and wellbeing with study, prayer, service and community forming the central pillars in the lives of students.

"At St Columban's we provide access to quality teaching, modern resources and 21st Century technology, allowing students to increase readiness for and engagement in learning in a positive educational setting," Principal Danielle Reed said.

"Our Positive Behaviour for Learning framework overarches our welfare, behaviour management and discipline approaches and provides consistency of expectations for both children and staff.

"We engage in various activities with San Clemente that allows for a smooth transition to high school for Year 6 students."

St Columban's is a unique school community that boasts the highest multicultural population of any primary school in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.

"Together we form a community that is culturally aware and accepting of others," Mrs Reed said.

Kindergarten transition is a comprehensive program that encompasses information about development for parents along with an opportunity for new Kinders to interact with their peers and teacher.

"Our learning environment reflects sensitivity to individual needs where each student is catered for at all levels," Danielle said.

"We are a Gifted Education Lead school, meaning that all staff are trained in recognising and extending high potential learners. We provide learning support, for students who find learning a challenge, and English as an Additional Language or Dialect for our 65 students who have a language background other than English."

In partnership with parents, St Columban's endeavours to provide an atmosphere where all children will be happy, well-adjusted members of the community.
