Australia expects to be invited to this year's Group of Seven nations meeting in the United States.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed President Donald Trump was keen for Australia to attend the summit.
"We're expecting an invitation there," Mr Morrison told 2GB on Monday.
Mr Morrison attended last year's G7 meeting as a guest of French President Emmanuel Macron.
"It's a good opportunity to deal with a lot of like-minded countries," the prime minister said.
The G7 is made up of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, US and the United Kingdom.
