BEACHWATCH

Winds are expected to go onshore ending the recent small, clean conditions. Wave quality will deteriorate and shore breaks are still sanding up. Expect a slight increase on the afternoon incoming tide and easterly swell at one to 1.5 metres. Winds are westerly tending south. It's a full tide early so try the inner reefs. There's small breaks at Cowrie, Newcastle beach and south Bar; try Merewether late afternoon; Redhead,Frenchmans and Catherine Hill Bay are the picks to the south and Fingal or One Mile up at Port Stephens. The water is 17 degrees. - Dave Anderson
