A MAN has been charged after police allegedly found drugs and a cache of weapons after searching a home in Cessnock.

Police from the Hunter Valley Target Action Group stopped a car in a Quarrybylong Street about 11am on Friday.
During a search of the car, police allegedly found an electronic stun device and a home-made pistol as well as ammunition for the pistol and a quantity of methylamphetamine.
Police then conducted a search warrant at a house in High Street, Cessnock. They allegedly found more methylamphetamine, a home-made garotte, machetes and knives.
A man, 26, has been charged with 11 offences including possess unregistered pistol, possess prohibited firearm, possess ammunition, possess prohibited weapons, supply a prohibited drug, possess prohibited drugs, possess prescribed restricted substance and contravene firearm prohibition order.
The man appeared in Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.
Police said he had been refused bail and will reappear in court on Monday.
