Run Chaser and Ferrari Blaster gave Akers a winning double at The Gardens last Friday night. Ferrari Blaster then backed up for his first victory at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.
"It was a good moment and I was very happy with how he found the line and the time he ran," said Akers, who has eight dogs in work.
"And he ran a really good dog [Wow] down."
Rum Chaser was third in a tough run from box six at Gosford over 388m on Tuesday night.
The Magic Sprite dog has box eight in his return to The Gardens 400m and Akers expected another strong performance. Rum Chaser's run last week of 22.72 seconds makes him the quickest in the race 11 field for the track and distance.
"He's got good form from the outside boxes but he's a bit of a risky beginner," Akers said. "If he can begin, well, he ran 22.7 there last week and he wouldn't have to go much quicker to win that."
At Maitland on Thursday, Sawyers Gully trainer Darryl Thomas had a winning double with Whitfield and One Strange Dude in 4th/5th grade 450m races.
