Firefighters have managed to rescue a cat and rabbit from a burning building at Valentine Monday evening even as they worked to extinguish the fire, which had taken hold on the top floor.

A spokesperson for Belmont Police said there were no injuries as a result of the fire, which broke around around 4pm, and said all occupants had safely evacuated when emergency crews arrived on the scene.
Firefighters with NSW Fire and Rescue sprang into action to search the townhouses on Berringar Road after the fire apparently broke out on the top storey of a three-level townhouse.
A spokesperson said the fire had spread from one unit to two others when firefighters extinguishing the blaze managed to rescue the beloved pets.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke from the blaze spreading across Croudace Bay north to Eleebana as several police, fire and emergency services responded.
The fire was extinguished around 6pm.
Detectives remained on the scene well after 7pm working to determine the cause of the blaze, and were expected to return Tuesday morning to continue their inquiries.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, fire crews from Hamlyn Terrace and Tarro attended a house fire on Dalyell Way, Raymond Terrace around 7am Tuesday where they found a fire had started in the bathroom after a heat lamp had over heated and caught alight.
Firefighters were able to use a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire had not spread throughout the house.
