Newcastle Olympic president George Sofianos said the club would be looking for a new head coach in 2021 with technical director Alex Tagaroulias only filling Peter McGuinness' former role this year.

Sofianos, who was set to address Olympic's playing group at training on Tuesday night, said Tagaroulias takes over for the rest of 2020 after McGuinness opted to step down because of work commitments amid the coronavirus crisis.
"Alex has coached [Olympic] previously and won a grand final, but he will just be the interim coach [in 2020] and won't do it full time next year," Sofianos told the Newcastle Herald.
"We'll just have to wait and see who applies for that job and go from there."
Sofianos didn't rule out McGuinness coming back to Darling Street next season but said "that would be up to Peter and how his business is going and where it all ends up after COVID-19".
McGuinness, who was approaching his third season in charge after returning to Olympic in 2018, said the global health pandemic had forced him to make a choice between coaching and work.
"As with the rest of the world, the COVID-19 pandemic has placed a strain on my business outside of football," McGuinness said via a club statement.
"Like many others, I am having to respond to the changing world.
"This has led me to deciding that I am unable to put the time needed into both my business affairs and my commitment to Olympic. Sadly, I have arrived at the decision to relinquish my role as head coach at Olympic."
Sofianos said there was "no animosity" between Olympic and the former premiership player.
"He's been involved at the club for many years," Sofianos said. "He's an old boy and won a premiership with our squad back in the 90s. We wish him all the best."
Sofianos was confident the players would regroup in time for Sunday's clash with the Bears at Weston.
"I don't think there will be any issues. They've got a job to do in a shortened season," he said.
Olympic, who last won a premiership in 2012, missed play-offs the previous two years.
