"It's been a rough couple of years for us, but we've finally got that consistency in our squad," Bennett said. "That's a big positive and we're keen to see how we go."
The NSW Country representative said state under-18 defender Brad Fletcher, Tane Charman and Declan Waters were key ins for Uni, who will meet Souths at Newcastle International Hockey Centre on Sunday after the first-round draw was confirmed by HCPHL officials over the weekend.
Gosford host Wests and Norths have the bye after Maitland withdrew from the top competition last week.
