McSpadden heads north for the 2020-21 campaign after a maiden stint with the Sydney Uni Flames, who she first joined four years ago.
She follows in the footsteps of fellow Novocastrian Suzy Batkovic, who carved out her WNBL career at the Fire.
The announcement was made on Wednesday.
"Lara is a fantastic addition to the Fire. Having coached her previously I know the type of person she is and know she will be an excellent fit for our team," Seebohm told Townsville's club media.
"She has a great work ethic and combined with her size and athleticism I think she is going to add a lot to our team at both ends of the floor."
The 21-year-old, a former Australian junior representative, played under Seebohm as part of the Emerging Opals at the 2019 World University Games.
"I'm really excited to be playing with Townsville for the upcoming season," McSpadden told Townsville's club media.
"I'm pumped for this opportunity to move to a new place and play for a team where I know great players of experience and young talent have signed.
"I can't wait to get up there for pre-season and get in the best shape we can for the start of season."
McSpadden is set to line-up with the Newcastle Hunters in this year's abbreviated Waratah League campaign, which starts on Saturday.
