Warners Bay lodged a report with the Black Diamond Cup's governing body on Monday, alleging Singleton's Kurtis Olsen breached the code of conduct during Saturday's first-grade fixture between the clubs at Feighan Oval.

The Newcastle Herald understands the allegation relates to spitting.

AFL HCC community football manager Sam Zikman confirmed that Warners Bay have submitted paperwork and Singleton had until Tuesday to reply via statements.

Zikman, who was unable to talk about the matter itself, said AFL HCC would review the available evidence over the coming days before determining whether or not to apply a prescribed penalty, hold a judiciary hearing or dismiss the case.

"Warners Bay have cited a Singleton player from the weekend," Zikman said.

"All AFLHCC clubs have the chance to do that, picking up anything the umpires might miss.

"The league process is then to give the other club an opportunity to reply and provide statements before deciding any course of action.

"We will look at all the information and go from there."

Olsen and Warners Bay full forward Jake Roach stood toe-to-toe in the second quarter and took hold of each other's jerseys following a collision between the pair in general play.

It is unclear if any punches were thrown.

Soon after both players were asked to leave the field because of the 'blood rule'.

No action was taken at the time by the umpires, who did not submit a report after the game.

Warners Bay president Elizabeth Brown said the club opted to take further action, believing the state's code of conduct had been breached.

"We want it investigated further and a decision made by the AFLHCC on how to deal with it," she said.

Warners Bay coach Nathan Harkness said, outside the alledged incident, it was otherwise a "good, hard game" and his concern remains with the "welfare" of Roach.

Singleton coach Jed Ellis-Cluff said "we feel it's not appropriate to comment on the incident until it has been resolved with the competition."

The match wasn't filmed by BarTV Sports.

Singleton (9.17-71) narrowly defeated Warners Bay (10.3-63) by eight points as competition kicked off after the coronavirus-forced delay.

Defending premiers Terrigal Avoca, last year's grand finalists Newcastle City, Cardiff and Killarney Vale were Saturday's other winners in the men's division.

Terrigal Avoca, City, Cardiff and Killarney Vale were also victorious in the women's Black Diamond Cup season openers.

The abbreviated 2020 campaigns continue this weekend.
