This weekend's round-two matches involving Nelson Bay teams, both seniors and juniors, have been postponed following a COVID-19 outbreak in Port Stephens and it comes as Singleton's Kurtis Olsen and Warners Bay's Jake Roach were cleared at a state tribunal on Thursday night.
An independent AFL NSW-ACT panel found that "due to conflicting evidence no burden of proof could be attained, so no penalties were handed down" for either player.
AFL HCC community football manager Sam Zikman confirmed Olsen and Roach were the players involved in the incidents but wouldn't reveal details about the alledged events.
"Both clubs had witnesses that believed they saw either the lead up to or the event itself," Zikman said.
Warners Bay cited Olsen for misconduct on Monday and Singleton cited Roach for striking on Tuesday following Saturday's season opener between the Black Diamond Cup outfits at Feighan Oval.
The Newcastle Herald understands the original claim related to spitting.
No action was taken at the time by the umpires, who didn't file a report. Both players left the field under the 'blood rule'.
Zikman said there is an avenue to appeal.
Singleton are away to Gosford on Saturday.
Warners Bay were due to travel to meet Nelson Bay at Dick Burwell Oval in both men's and women's competitions but now have the weekend off.
In other double headers Terrigal Avoca host Newcastle City, Maitland are at home to Wyong Lakes and Cardiff host Killarney Vale.
AFL HCC said they would "review fixtures" for Nelson Bay sides ahead of August 1.
However, based on advice from Hunter New England Health the next two rounds have already been cancelled for the Nelson Bay under-9 team, who had a player test positive for coronavirus this week. Opponents the Newcastle City Sky Blues requested to cancel their own under-9 game this Saturday.
