Second-rower Charley, 20, will join winger Oskar, 22, at their father's junior club when they host Maitland at Cahill Oval on Sunday (3pm) in the third round of this year's Newcastle Rugby League competition.

Muir, who won a premiership with the Knights in 1997, would have normally been the No.1 spectator at the Belmont venue but a double knee replacement on Thursday means he will unfortunately miss the fixture.

"I wish I could be there but I'm very proud of the boys and it's extra special they get to play first grade together at Lakes," he said.

Muir hopes to watch the duo play the following weekend when Lakes meet Souths closer to their Merewether home at Townson Oval.

The Seagulls have another junior, and former NSW Country under-18 representative, Jarrod Kirk making his debut off the bench.

"It's been a pleasure watching and coaching all three of them progress through our grades over the last few years," Lakes coach Robbie Payne said.

"It shows persistence and hard work pays off. I'm sure they will wear the blue and gold with pride and respect for all those that have done it before them."

The Seagulls, who are coming off the bye, were beaten 20-10 by Western Suburbs at home in round one. Maitland have conceded 72 points in their opening two losses.

Elsewhere and the Goannas welcome Josh Griffiths, who arrives from Group 11 side Wellington after previous stints at Maitland and Kurri, when the Ryan Walker-skippered Wests visit Cessnock Sportsground on Saturday (3pm). Griffiths starts from the bench and former NRL player Liam Foran, who signed from Group 21 club Greta-Branxton last week, moves to the halves.

Mitch Williams will continue coaching Wyong, along with assistant Mark Miller, despite having surgery on his broken cheek bone on Wednesday. The Roos have now appointed Jake Lewis and Brock Molan as co-captains ahead of hosting Souths at Morry Breen Oval on Sunday (3:35pm). The Lions gain forward Tori Freeman-Quay after he was cleared by French club Saint-Gaudens Bears during the week.

The undefeated Central have the bye.
