The Onwards Studio Gallery returns with its one night/one day exhibitions this Friday, August 7 with Patrick Mavety's Capers & Parmesan. Visit Saturday, August 8 between 10am and 4pm to view an intimate series of oil paintings on canvas and paper. Mavety continues to find inspiration from everyday moments around him; a street at night, an ornate lamp, a group of musicians as he builds upon his observational painting skills.

Mitch Revs Gallery
Mitch Revs Gallery and Newy Burger Co will officially open their new collaborative creative space at 1/451 Hunter St from 10am to 4pm, Saturday, August 8. The white wall space will be displaying artworks by makers and creators who have previously exhibited with Mitch Revs. This exhibition is planned for two weeks and works will be available to purchase at the opening and during gallery hours 9am to 5pm; Tuesday to Friday.
The Owens Collective
Wilful launches at The Owens Collective from 2pm Saturday, August 8. An abstract exhibition by a group of local emerging artists who met and were taught by John Morris last year during his 'Atelier' classes held at Newcastle Art Space. Amanda O'Bryan, Alana van de Wiel and Geoffrey Holmes-Howitt were guided by Morris in professional art practice. View 11am to 4pm, Friday to Sunday until August 16.

Blackstone Gallery
Rachel Melchers' solo exhibition Lost in Landscape is on until August 14 at Blackstone Gallery. Melchers paintings and works on paper explore coastal viewpoints, celebrate bush flora and take a journey into the still-life genre. Visit 10.30am to 3pm; Wednesday to Saturday.
Artisan Collective
The Artisan Collective Gallery located in the Nelson Bay marina is exhibiting new works by member, Peter Masters. Masters' abstract photography in Of The Earth explores the pattern making found in nature, with particular interest in rock shelves, volcanic lava, forestry and storm swells. Open 10am to 2pm; Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm; weekends.
Hunter Wetlands Centre
Timeless Textiles is exhibiting a photographic-based exhibition Wetlanders by Cecily Grace at Hunter Wetlands Centre. The artworks are made from transferring the photographic images onto cotton fabric and then embellishing with hand-stitching to emphasis the shapes, tones and textures of the wetland environment. Grace captures the hidden world of birdlife found within the wetland centre. Open 9am-4pm, until August 14.
