Residents jumped on social media at 11.30am to report their suburb had been blacked out.
An Ausgrid spokesman said it appeared that cockatoos had breached overhead power lines, causing them to short out.
"It actually happens quite a bit," the spokesman said.
Power was restored after 45 minutes.
In a separate incident, faulty power lines have been blamed for an outage at Birmingham Gardens, Elermore Vale and Wallsend on Friday night.
Power was restored at 1am on Saturday.
