It's the first occasion the six-time Golden Guitar winner and 2004 Star Maker has cracked the top 10.
Wreck Me also debuted at No.1 on the Country charts, beating the likes of US superstars Luke Combs (What You See Is What You Get) and The Chicks' long-waited return, Gaslighter.
The album was also fourth in the Australian chart behind Hockey Dad (Brain Candy), Paul Kelly & Paul Grabowski (Please Leave Your Light On) and The Kid Laroi (F*ck Love).
"[I'm] still pinching myself. Thanks everyone," Collins wrote on social media.
KARNIVOOL ROLLS IN
THE postponement of Karnivool's national Decade Of Sound Awake Tour due to the coronavirus pandemic brought a silver lining for Novocastrian fans.
Originally Newcastle was omitted from the Perth progressive rock band's 10-year anniversary celebration of their second album Sound Awake. However, with the tour being pushed back to March, Karnivool added shows in Newcastle, Wollongong and Kingscliff.
You can catch Karnivool at the Cambridge Hotel on March 20, 2021.
LIZOTTE'S TV PLUG
NEWCASTLE fans of ABC's new music show The Sound would have caught a familiar stage if they'd switched on last Sunday.
Lake Macquarie resident and music legend John Paul Young and his band used Lizotte's stage to perform their part of the Friday On My Mind cover for The Easybeats tribute. The performance also featured Hockey Dad's Zach Stephenson and Maddy Jane, who recorded their parts in Wollongong and Shannen James in Melbourne.
Young's Allstar Band at Lizotte's featured Paul Kirtley, Juan Mari Gonzalez, Floyd Vincent, Donovan Whitworth, Michael China Walker, Greg Plimmer and Pig Morgan.
CAMPFIRE RE-LIT
IT'S been a few months but William Crighton is ready to spark up another Crighton Campfire live-stream show from his Bellbird home on August 21.
It'll be the seventh edition of the series, which also included the charity mini-festival for Aboriginal dancer Peter Birch Marshal, known as Uncle Pete or Jungala on June 9.
LIKE A VERSION TEAM
IF you tune into triple j's Like A Version on Friday morning expect to hear a Novocastrian connection.
Former Bar Beach resident Kim Churchill has enlisted "best mate" and proud Dudley boy, Ben Gumbleton, of Boo Seeka, to help perform his latest single and a cover.
DARK WOODES
ELECTRO art-pop artist Woodes, aka Elle Graham, has given Newcastle audiences glimpses of her potential in the past year when she supported Thelma Plum at the Cambridge Hotel.
However, the north Queenslander is about to provide a fuller picture of her talent with the release of her debut album Crystal Ball on October 2. The latest single Queen Of The Night pulses with dark beats and is influenced by Lorde.
