She's instantly recognisable, across all manner of modern merchandise; t-shirts, cards, coffee mugs, lampshades, probably even facemasks, by now, and certainly, most certainly, beer. She's the Coyoacan Queen, Frida Kalo. The Kween is dead, long live the Queen. Fridamania has found its way onto a beer can, co-opted into a striking image that adorns the latest Counter Culture release by Byron Bay craft beer darlings, Stone & Wood. The Tequila Queen; where water, malt, hops, and yeast meet lime juice, Cointreau, salt, oak, and Arette tequila. The result? A limey, lemony, sweet but mostly sour, reminiscent of a creamy margarita cocktail that's pretty delicious and very refreshing. The beer's most likely sold out, by now, but I'm sure there's still t-shirts and lampshades available.
