POLICE investigating an alleged indecent assault in a Newcastle pub during Supercars weekend last year have identified and spoken to a man after releasing a CCTV image on Monday.

Investigators appealed for public help as part of their investigation, releasing a still image of a man they believed could assist with inquiries.
"As part of inquiries, police have since identified and spoken to a man," police said.
"Investigations are continuing, anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward.
"Police would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance.
Investigators have been told a 34-year-old woman was at a hotel with friends on Saturday November 23 when an unknown man approached and touched her inappropriately at a hotel on the corner of Scott and Watt streets.
She left shortly after and notified police.
Newcastle crime manager Detective Chief Inspector Scott Parker said tens of thousands of people had come to the city that weekend.
"There were thousands of people here during the Newcastle 500 weekend, all visiting our popular pubs and clubs in the Newcastle CBD," he said.
We believe there are several people who may have been visiting the Newcastle area that weekend that can assist us with our investigation."
"Anyone who was at that venue on Saturday 23 November, please cast your mind back and see if you have any information which may assist Newcastle detectives."
