Landscape explored
Collective continues at Back to Back Galleries until September 6. Five painters and two ceramic artists explore the textures, colours, patterns and rhythms of the Australian landscape. Meet the artists during the exhibition and visit the Gallery Shop.
Group effort
PASS IT ON, a collaborative printmaking project, will be on view at Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, Adamstown, from September 4 to 6 between 10am and 2pm only. The final artworks were created by working on part of the print individually and then passing it on to the next printmaker. Themes that emerged included city, woodland and urban meets nature.
Nature in detail
The intricate machine embroidery works by Sharon Peoples is on exhibition at Timeless Textiles until September 13. Appealing to the green thumb in all of us, Peoples renders birds, leaves, flowers, rocks, branches in joyful, lyrical lines and with fine detail solely through the use of the humble sewing machine. A small series of hand-embroidered miniature works is also on display.
Cultural appreciation
Gallery 139 continues to exhibit online (gallery139.com.au), IGN Art Fair feature artist, Malcolm Sands' West MacDonnell Ranges series. Sands spent a month last year, painting 'en plein air' with the traditional owners from Iltja Ntjarra.
