A man has been charged over a string of break-and-enters at businesses across the Hunter over three months earlier this year.

Joshua Shaun Raymond Fahey had 27 fresh charges leveled against him at Newcastle courthouse on Thursday, where he was due to appear over other charges.
Mr Fahey is accused of being involved in more than 20 break-ins between January and March this year, at businesses in Newcastle West, Cooks Hill, The Junction, Carrington, Charlestown, Glendale, Warners Bay, Mount Hutton, Gateshead, Fletcher, Thornton, Beresfield, Nelson Bay, Green Hills and Lovedale.
The charges against the 30-year-old came after an investigation involving detectives from four of the Hunter region's police commands.
Mr Fahey was charged with 24 counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, two counts of attempted aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence and one count of larceny.
At Newcastle Local Court on Thursday, Mr Fahey did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
