NSW Fire and Rescue crews were called out to Pendlebury Road on Sunday morning to reports of fallen power lines on the road.
Ausgrid was also alerted to the incident about 6.30am, which cut power to at least 10 homes and businesses.
Local residents have been advised to avoid the area of Pendlebury Road between Munibung Road and Alhambra Avenue while Cardiff firies work to make the area safe.
Early estimates suggest power will not be restored until 5pm. For more up-to-date information visit the Ausgrid website.
