Friend Angie Smalley has set up a GoFundMe page to support the family titled Prayers for Tamika.
"Tamika is a young amazing mum, always putting her babies first, always smiling, she is funny with an absolute gentle soul that did not deserve this today," she wrote.
"Dylan, a hard working, loving fiancé to Tamika was also injured in the accident and in hospital which means their three sons are being loved and looked after by their family members, not knowing why their mummy and daddy are not coming home to them and haven't been home for days."
A spokesperson Newcastle Taxis owner 13cabs said security camera footage would be provided to police.
"Our focus is now on ensuring the driver and passengers get the assistance and support they need. Our thoughts are with those, and those close to them, impacted by this awful event."
"13cabs is working closely with police to provide any information they need to assist them in their investigation. All 13cabs Taxis in Newcastle are fitted with security cameras to help keep passengers and drivers safe. We will as a priority ensure the investigating police get prompt access to the relevant footage."
