SCAPE confirms her art practice is edging towards a recognisable visual signature as she mixes identifiable imagery with abstract sections that transport the viewer directly into her land and seascapes.
The opening launch for STRUCTURES(S) by Grant Vercoe and Andy Devine is Saturday, October 17, from 3pm at Art Systems Wickham.
Both artists look to the structures found in architecture and civil engineering yet their visual approaches are poles apart.
Vercoe uses repetitive lines, harmonious colours and minimal composition.
While Devine says his paintings use "contrasting chromatic scales and hazard identifiers" where colours are vibrant and flat and compositions are balanced.
Cstudios Art Gallery opens on Saturday, October 17, from 4pm to 6pm for Gathering of Creatives 2, a curated exhibition of emerging and established Hunter-based art practitioners.
The gallery is well-known for it's diverse range of art medium and this exhibition will include jewellery, millinery, textiles, digital media as well as the customary painting, sculpture and photography.
The Owens Collective is hosting Muse Dreams Kingdom, a one-off event from 11am to 4pm this weekend.
The Owens Showroom in Islington will be filled with works that record five years of the artist's travel within Australia and abroad. Cloth, paper and paint has been used to explore notions of material intimacy.
The Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize 2020 winners were announced after our press deadline on October 16 at Newcastle Art Space. The judges this year were Lisa Kirkpatrick from Newcastle Art Gallery, David Trout from Fine Art TAFE NSW and Gerry Bobsien from Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
