The Czech Republic has recorded 11,105 new coronavirus infections, the highest number since the onset of the pandemic and the first time daily new infections reached a five-digit figure, Health Ministry data shows.

The Friday figure also marks the third consecutive day of record-high infections.
Over 9700 coronavirus cases were confirmed on Thursday and over 9500 the day before.
Testing has also been ramped up in recent days.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Czech Republic has recorded 160,112 confirmed coronavirus cases and a death toll of 1283. The EU member state has some 10.7 million inhabitants.
The government announced on Thursday that it would buy around 4000 hospital beds in order to set up makeshift facilities in exhibition halls for a possible spike in those needing hospital treatment.
On Friday, the health minister echoed a call for doctors working abroad to return and support their hospital colleagues.
All restaurants, pubs and bars have been closed since Wednesday. The consumption of alcohol in public is prohibited.
All schools have introduced distance learning. A maximum of six people are allowed to meet both inside and outside. Sports and cultural events are prohibited.
The requirement to wear a face mask has also been expanded.
