Kiwi Stealth Bomba is a recent addition to the stable after McDonald's son, Jackson, bought him.
He debuted with a tough effort when third at Newcastle on October 2 and tackles race five over the Menangle mile on Tuesday second-up.
"He's only had the one start here and he was probably a run short," McDonald said. "He had a hard run because he got back early but he went good for a first-up run and he should be a little bit fitter and right for tomorrow.
"It's always harder there but he won the two races in New Zealand so he got into that race really well."
Master Catch was a 9.6m winner last start at Newcastle on October 2 despite having to work hard for the lead early. He will have to overcome a wide draw again on Tuesday in the last (1609m), but McDonald said "Master Catch is going really well".
"He worked enormous the other day and he just keeps getting better every time he races," she said. "He had plenty left at Newcastle, too. He was all out on his lonesome, but it was good to see him lead instead of toughing it out in the chair all the time.
"I took him there before for 2300m races, which suit him, but they get in Indian file, walk then sprint home, which doesn't suit. He likes to get moving, so we knocked him back to the mile."
