Taylor, 18, has been called up by the Sydney Sixers as part of an extended squad but because of the COVID-19 'bubble' requirements she's also on standby for opponents.
And there's every chance the all-rounder, a right-handed batter and off-spinner, could be utilised as a replacement for the original 15-player teams.
Franchises, who are all based in Homebush, are contesting 14 rounds across the state capital between October 25 and November 22. That's an average of one game every two days.
Taylor, a former Newcastle City junior who now plays seniors with Cardiff-Boolaroo and women's competition with Northern Districts, says regardless of getting out in the middle the opportunity to train with the likes of Alyssa Healy is priceless.
"It's just the experience of being around those top-level cricketers and learning from them," she said.
The Sixers start their campaign against cross-city rivals Sydney Thunder at North Sydney Oval on Sunday (1:45pm).
The Thunder squad includes Wallsend's Sam Bates and rookie Anika Learoyd, who played juniors and seniors for City the previous two summers.
Novocastrian Corinne Hall skippers the Hobart Hurricanes, who are without Hunter leg-spinner Maisy Gibson (injury).
