FULL MEASURE: Despite years of hype over the decline of coal, exports through Newcastle have generally increased on an annual basis, but shipments through the bigger of the port's two loader companies, PWCS, are down by 5 per cent in the year to the end of October.

THE latest monthly statistics from coal loader company Port Waratah Coal Services show exports from its Kooragang Island and Carrington terminals are down by 5 per cent to the end of October, compared with 2019.
