Holland, 28, put pen to paper at Toronto on Wednesday ahead of next year's Newcastle Rugby League competition after announcing his professional retirement in September following five seasons at Canterbury.
Macquarie didn't enter a senior men's side in 2020 and haven't made the semis since winning the 2017 premiership.
"Kerrod's a big signing for the club, especially after a few lean years," Kidd said.
"He's got NRL experience, he'll help our younger guys and just give us a boost."
Kidd first teamed up with Singleton-bred Holland at Cessnock in 2014, which included a Newcastle RL grand final. He joined the Knights the following year and claimed a NSW Cup title.
Holland then moved to the Bulldogs and kicked a match-winning conversion after full-time while on debut in 2016. It was the first of 71 NRL games.
Kidd said Holland would likely play fullback for the Scorpions, but could also slot in at five-eighth.
