The left hander made an unbeaten 120 as the title holders accounted for Central North by five wickets at Tuggerah Regional Sports Complex on Friday, ahead of weekend encounters against North Coastal and hosts Central Coast.
Batting at No.3, Hudson arrived at 1-9 and returned at 5-241 as Newcastle reached the target with 10.1 overs to spare in the one-day representative fixture.
He struck 18 fours during his 95-ball knock and was out in the middle for two-and-a-half hours.
Hudson combined for consecutive partnerships of 58, 66 and 77 with Daniel Arms (35), debutant James King (25) and Jed Dickson (27) respectively.
Earlier in the match Newcastle restricted Central North to 9-239 from 50 overs.
Rookie Dan Bailey opened the bowling and finished with figures of 3-47.
All-rounder Josh Geary (2-42), captain Nick Foster (2-34), Hudson (1-20) and Ryan Van Kemenade (1-7) also sook wickets for Newcastle.
University's Andrew Harriott (59) and Stockton's Tom O'Neill (2-60) both contributed for Central North.
In the other game Central Coast (7-312) beat North Coastal (8-215) by 97 runs.
