To'a 20, who made his NRL debut in the final round back in 2019, has been signed until the end of the 2023 season.
He made seven appearances last season under coach Adam O'Brien, scoring four tries after first being scouted back in 2018 by the club's recruitment officer Alex McKinnon.
Knights general manager of football Danny Buderus believes To'a has a big future.
"Under the guidance of Adam O'Brien and his team, everyone at the club is confident that Star will continue to progress towards a long-term permanent spot," Buderus said.
"Being Alex's first signing as a recruitment officer in 2018, Newcastle definitely is a home for Star and we can't wait to watch his development over the next three years."
