Newcastle, who are yet to unveil their squad for the coming season, kick off against Brisbane Roar on December 28. They host Adelaide United on New Year's Day before facing the toughest road trip of the season against Perth on January 10.

Newcastle are back on home turf when they host Canberra United at McDonald Jones Stadium on January 17 as part of a double-header with their A-League counterparts.

"I was pretty happy with the draw to be honest," Wilson said. "It's nice to have the first two games at home, particularly at No.2. The girls, particularly the ones who have been here for a long time, know it is a venue that we get a lot of people to. It provides a really good atmosphere and is an intimate ground for us and we love the opportunity to play there.

"Having it for the first two games helps to build that atmosphere and that fan base and hopefully we can produce a good showing and just continue that through the season."

The Jets' remaining three homes games will also be at McDonald Jones Stadium. The round-eight match against Sydney (February 14) will be part of a double-header and games against Western Sydney in round 11 (March 7) then Perth in round 13 (March 18) will be stand-alone fixtures there.

Byes come in round six and nine. The Jets play Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Western Sydney twice and only face Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Sydney and Canberra once.

"In order to win or be the best you have to beat the best, so it really doesn't matter who we play and how many times we play people," Wilson said. "We have to make sure that we put on a good showing in every game.

"If you base it off how things have gone in the previous year and the fact we're only playing some of last year's top-four teams once, people might look at that and think that's actually really good. But you don't know what's going to happen and at the moment there's a lot of unknowns of how teams are going to line up.

"I think the draw gives us a good chance but, at the end of the day, you have to beat everybody. You have to make sure that you're performing at your full capabilities and you can't underestimate anybody in a league that I think is going to be potentially quite open and there could be some surprise packets."

The 2020-21 W-League kicks off with an historic double-header on December 27 when Western Sydney host Melbourne Victory at Bankwest Stadium. It will be the first time the men's and women's domestic seasons will start concurrently.

A W-League grand final rematch between Sydney and champions Melbourne City will be played at ANZ Stadium three days later and will also be part of a double-header with the A-League grand final rematch.

Fox Sports will broadcast live a minimum of 27 W-League 2020/21 season matches and the entire finals series. ABC TV will broadcast live one match per round on Sunday afternoons as well as all matches of the finals series live.

All W-League matches throughout the season will also be streamed live on Kayo Sports and the My Football Live App.
