According to a statement from Norah Head Lighthouse the illegal campers had a fire blazing and the employee requested it be extinguished due to the high fire danger. The request was reportedly met with aggression and during the altercation the employee was knocked to the ground by two of the teenagers, hitting her head on the road.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene. One young man in the group reportedly cared for the employee prior to emergency services arriving. When police arrived the teenagers escaped into the bush.
It is believed at least two witnesses filmed the assault on their phones and lighthouse management has called for these people to handover the footage to the authorities.
Anyone with information relating to this incident is encouraged to contact Wyong police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
