Back to Back Galleries' annual Christmas take away exhibition has started. The gallery is filled with ceramics perfect to give as gifts by members of Newcastle Studio Potters. A variety of decorative pottery techniques have been used to make functional wares including plates, cups, bowls and platters. A diverse range of hand-built processes including coil and slab building have been used to create a mixture of sculptural works for those looking to give a more ornamental gift. Show ends December 20.

The Hunter Arts Network Art Bazaar is on this Sunday at Lambton Park from 9am to 3pm. The annual event will offer works for sale from 50 to 100 artists. Entry is free.
The last exhibition for the year at Onwards Studio and Gallery is by Liz Pike. Relics utilises the traditions of the still-life genre to represent "intimate portraits of individuals". Painted in realism with a contemporary twist through the use of colour and unusual compositional choices. See the show on Saturday, December 5, between 10am and 4pm.
You'll Fest at Art Systems Wickham has become an annual event in the Newcastle art community for both artists and buyers alike. At this exhibition a range of artists offering a variety of works and price points for gifts and collectors. Expect to find paintings through to works on paper, photography and sculpture. Ends December 19.
Anna Eggenhuizen and Katrina Holden are exhibiting together in The Creator Incubator gallery, opening Saturday, December 5, from 6pm. ORIGINS presents illustrative works by Eggenhuizen with the gestural abstract works by Katrina Holden. These two artists shared a studio space in Maitland where they supported each other's practices which has accumulated in this exhibition.
Untamed at Timeless Textiles by Judi Nikoleski ends on Sunday, December 6. The textile landscapes have been created by felted techniques using various yarns and fibres on dyed, woven woolen backings. Next is Second Flight by Cecily Grace from December 6 to 24. Fabric photographs of local birdlife have been captured in hand-stitching to emphasise the poetic movement of this species.
For How Do I Know My Parrot is Happy? Rosie Deacon has brought a swag of bright, textured and playful materials, objects and creatures into the spaces and cells of The Lock-Up to create a fantastical bird jungle gym. The show opens on Saturday.
