Searle, a playmaker who lined up for the Knights at the NRL Nines in Perth in February, will join Macquarie in 2021 alongside fellow off-season recruit and former Canterbury outside back Kerrod Holland while Luke Higgins has switched from Souths to reunite with older brother Liam.
"He's a good pick up for us. I'm surprised he wasn't in the Knights' NSW Cup squad again, but he was on the market so we had a crack at him," Kidd said. "He's a real competitor with and without the ball."
Searle was set for a second stint with the Knights lower grades in 2020 before the global coronavirus pandemic saw NSW Cup cancelled and he instead returned home to line-up for Dubbo CYMS in the statewide President's Cup.
He provides another option in Macquarie's halves with Andy Sumner and Travis Edwards. Holland will likely be fullback at the Scorpions. Luke Higgins is a prop while Liam plays hooker.
