The former St George Illawarra back-rower trained for the first time with Newcastle on Monday, having signed a three-year deal with the club last March.
A regular in representative teams since 2016, Frizell has not enjoyed the same level of success at the business end of the NRL season.
In 177 games for the Dragons and Cronulla, the 29-year-old has appeared in only three play-off games, for one win.
It's an anomaly he intends to address with his new club, who broke their own finals drought last year with a first play-off appearance since 2013.
"That [a premiership] is definitely something every player wants to achieve," Frizell said.
"I'd just like to bring some sort of success to this club.
"Whatever I can do to help that, if a premiership comes along, awesome.
"I'll be doing everything I can to be the best player I can be, and to help the players around me become better."
Frizell described Newcastle as the "perfect fit" for him at this point in his career.
"I kind of feel like a little kid, starting at a new school," he said.
He was greeted at training on Monday by NSW Origin teammates Daniel Saifiti and David Klemmer.
"Obviously he's a real good player but he's an even better person," Saifiti said.
