Jared Alderson, 32, of Edgeworth, who is represented by criminal defence lawyer Drew Hamilton, chose not to come up from the cells to appear in Toronto Local Court on Friday, a day after he was arrested and charged with two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug and resisting arrest.

Mr Alderson, who was on conditional bail at the time of his arrest, did not enter any pleas or apply for bail and the matter was adjourned until March.

According to police, Mr Alderson and a woman checked into a room at Pippi's at the Point, a popular licensed premises at Speers Point, on January 11.

Over the next few days, management told police they noticed a pattern of Mr Alderson leaving his room multiple times a day for short periods, meeting people in the car park and then returning to his room.

When he hadn't been seen by about 4pm on Thursday, management became concerned he may have suffered a drug overdose and called police. There was no answer when police knocked on the door so, citing suspicions around drug activity and concerns for Mr Alderson's welfare, police then had management unlock the room where they allegedly found cash and drugs.

Police say they then locked the room again and waited for Mr Alderson to return.

When he did and officers went to arrest him, police allege Mr Alderson resisted arrest and tried to "delete evidence in relation to drug supply" from his mobile phone.

A search of the motel room allegedly later uncovered quantities of methamphetamine and GHB, cash, a "tick list", scales, syringes, vials, glass jars and other items commonly used in the supply of ice and GHB.

Police say they examined Mr Alderson's phone and found text messages suggesting he was involved in the ongoing supply of drugs.
