Professional footballers and local players headed to Nobbys for the inaugural Beach 5s Australia Day festival. The event included a celebrity charity match and was headlined by Lote Tuqiri, Owen Craigie, Danny Buderus, Willie Mason, Robbie O'Davis
In the city crowds gathered for the Invasion Day rally with people marching in solidarity from Civic Park to Nobbys foreshore.
There were also citizenship ceremonies and awards given out across council areas.
