American Magic will jump from box one in heat three of four in the 400-metre 1-3 wins series and he looks a genuine chance off his effort last week at the track.
The Magic Sprite-American Rose dog, which has five placings and one win from 13 starts, began well from box one to lead easily but was run down late by Turlingah to finish a half-length second.
Walters, who has 12 dogs in work, believed American Magic was better placed to win this time around.
"Let's hope he can go a bit better," Walters said.
"It was a good run. Usually he's a good starter, but on the bend starts, they give him a knock and he goes back, so that's why we've switched to Maitland. It's a straight, clear run and it's better for them.
"He's not a bad pup. He's well suited tomorrow and I expect him to jump well and lead them.
"This is a lot easier race on paper, but it doesn't always work out that way."
American Magic's litter sister Small Side scored her maiden win at The Gardens on Friday.
Also on Monday, Walters has Powerful Pat in race three and No Commission, another littermate of American Magic, in the first.
"Powerful Pat is just about due to retire and I only chucked him in because they were short on noms," he said. "The other dog, I've only just taken him over and he's had just one start for me. He ran fourth at Gosford last week and it wasn't a bad run and I'm still working on him."
"I think I will turn him around. He showed enough early in his career and different training methods work sometimes, and sometimes they don't."
